Features

Game Sync: This shelf system offers Game Sync with front A/V inputs, for enjoying superb video game surround effects. Just run your game console's sound to the MHC-RG40, select Game Sync, and you'll hear arcade-style effects that seem to come from all around.

3-Band EQ: The 3-band EQ allows you to adjust the low, mid and high frequencies. Each frequency range can be adjusted from +6dB to -6dB in 2dB increments. The Personal File feature allows you to adjust and store up to three custom EQ curves into memory.

EQ Presets: This system has Music EQ, Movie EQ, and Game EQ presets, allowing you to optimize the surround effects depending on the source you are using. The Music EQ allows you to choose Rock, Pop, Jazz, Dance, Soul, or Oriental for standard music sources. The Movie EQ allows you to choose Action, Drama, or Musical for soundtracks. The Game EQ allows you to choose Adventure, Arcade, or Racing for video game sources.

V-Groove: The V-Groove setting produces more powerful sound and enhanced bass.

Daily Timer: You can use the daily timer as an alarm clock to wake up to a cassette, a CD or the radio. Once the timer is active, it will operate everyday at the set time. You can select two separate daily times, Daily 1 and Daily 2. Note: You cannot activate the Daily 1 and Daily 2 Timers at the same time. In addition, you cannot activate the Daily Timer and Timer recording at the same time.

Sleep Timer: The sleep timer switches the system off after a specified amount of time so you can fall asleep without worrying about the stereo being left on all night. The sleep timer can be set to 0-90 minutes in 10 minute increments, or Auto. In Auto mode, the system will turn off after a CD has stopped playing (up to 100 minutes) or after the radio has played for 100 minutes. The sleep timer function can only be accessed from the supplied wireless remote control. Note: When you are using the Sleep Timer, the Daily Timer and Timer recording will not turn the system on until the Sleep Timer has turned the system off.

Timer-Recording: Once daily, you can record from a preset radio station to the cassette deck. The timer allows you to specify a start and stop time. Note: If the system is on at the preset time, the recording will not be made.

Tuner Features

Overview: This system has a digital AM/FM Tuner. You can store up to 30 station presets so that you always have easy access to your favorite stations without having to tune them in manually each time. The tuner has three tuning modes: Manual, Preset, and Auto (seek) tuning. If you are listening to an FM station in stereo but the reception is weak, you can improve the sound quality by switching to Mono. Note: FM tuning is done in 0.1MHz steps and AM tuning is done in 9kHz or 10 kHz steps.

CD Features

CD Player: This system has a motorized 3-disc CD carousel.

Disc Exchange: You can exchange two discs while playing a third.

CD Compatibility: This unit will play prerecorded CDs, finalized CD-R discs and finalized CD-RW discs.

Program Play: Up to 32 tracks can be programmed and played in any order.

Shuffle Play: You can select Shuffle All Discs or Shuffle 1Disc. When Shuffle All Discs is selected, the tracks on all loaded CDs are played in random order. When Shuffle 1Disc is selected, the tracks on the selected CD are played in random order.

Repeat Play: You can select Repeat All or Repeat 1. When Repeat All is selected, the changer repeats all the tracks on the selected disc up to five times. When Repeat 1 is selected, the changer repeats the current track. In addition, you can repeat Program Play and Shuffle Play.

Cassette Features

Dual Auto-Reverse Cassette Decks: In addition to the tuner and 3-disc CD carousel, this system has dual auto-reverse cassette decks.

Recording: Using a Type I tape in Deck B, you can record from a CD, a cassette, or the radio. Deck A does not have recording capabilities.

Automatic Music Search (AMS): This feature rewinds the tape to the beginning of the current track or fast forwards the tape to the beginning of the next track. It does this by detecting the blank spaces between the songs.

Relay Play: This feature automatically begins playing the second tape when the first tape is finished.

CD Synchro Recording: This feature allows you to record a CD to tape by just pushing the CD Sync button.

Program Edit: When recording, this feature allows you to make sure that the length of the source to be recorded does not exceed the available space on the cassette.

Speakers

Speaker Design: Each speaker uses a 2" paper cone tweeter, a 5-1/8" paper cone midrange with a rubber surround, and a 5-1/8" paper cone woofer with a cloth surround. Each cabinet has two front-firing ports for improved bass response.
