Features

Super VHS ET: This VCR can be used with S-VHS tapes to record either S-VHS or regular VHS, or standard VHS tapes may be used to make VHS and S-VHS recordings. Note that this is not quasi S-VHS, it is true S-VHS with 400 line resolution. Tapes recorded using the S-VHS ET feature may not play back on some non S-VHS ET machines and, like any S-VHS recording, will not play back on a standard VHS deck UNLESS it has quasi S-VHS playback capabilities.

Flying Erase Head: The flying erase head makes sure that the transition points between recordings are distortion free.

Insert Editing: Insert editing lets you replace the original picture without affecting the sound.

Audio Dubbing: Audio dubbing enables you to dub your own sound track over the original (mono linear track) while leaving the picture as it is.

Digital Wide TBC/NR: This VCR has a Digital Time Base Corrector which helps to remove jitter from fluctuating video signals for a stable picture with old or rental tapes, and digital noise reduction which helps cut video noise. This can be turned on or off.

Digital R3 Picture System: This feature digitally applies edge correction to the luminance signal to enhance picture detail. Note that the VCR has 2MB of frame memory. This gives you clear color separation with no color bleeding; sharp image edges and recovery of color in small areas. Video signal to noise ratio is improved by approximately 3dB.

Picture Control: Allows you to adjust the playback picture quality. You can choose from the following settings:

  • Auto: Automatically adjusts the picture as noted above.
  • Edit: Used when dubbing tapes.
  • Soft: Softens the picture when viewing a worn tape.
  • Sharp: Which sharpens the picture.

VCR Plus+ With Cable Mouse: Simplifies VCR programming to record programs.

AV Compulink Compatible: Allows other Compulink compatible JVC components to work together as a unified system for simple one step operation.

Dual Quick Set (Plug and Play): When it is first connected to AC power, this VCR will automatically set the clock and tune in all receivable channels; for this feature to work, an antenna must be connected to the VCR. Of course, you can also manually add and delete channels. The Plug and Play feature will not function when the VCR is connected between a cable box and television; when a cable box is used, the clock and tuner channels must be set separately.

Auto Clock Set: The time and date can be set automatically using data transmitted over most PBS stations. You can also select semi-auto or manual clock set. Unlike most auto clock set features, you do not have to turn the VCR on, select a menu, etc. Just plug it in (both power and signal ), leave it alone and it will set the clock itself. Up-dates automatically occur every hour or so, which should also give you a more accurate clock.

Child Lock: The child lock feature allows you to disable the operation of the unit to prevent timer recordings from being disturbed.

Active Video Calibration: Active video calibration automatically calibrates the tape quality and video head condition for best recording and playback quality.

Auto SP-EP Timer: When selected, the speed on timer recordings automatically switches from SP to EP mode if there is not enough time left on the tape.

Pro-cision 19 micron Heads: The Pro-cision 19 micron heads improve EP performance.

Video Stabilizer: Corrects vertical vibration when playing back unstable recordings made on another VCR.

Instant Review: When this button on the remote is pressed, the VCR turns on, rewinds to the beginning of the last recording and starts playback. Press twice to see the last two recordings, etc.- up to nine times.

Express Timer Programming: Allows you to program the VCR's timer to record up to 8 broadcasts, as far as a year in advance. You can also record programs on a weekly or daily basis by using Express Timer Programming.

24 Hour Quick Programming: This feature lets you program a timer recording that starts within 24 hours without using the on-screen menus. It is only available on the front panel.

On-Screen Display: On-screen menus can be displayed in French, Spanish, or English.

Auto Daylight Saving Time: This feature automatically adjusts for daylight savings time; the feature can be deactivated, so the unit will not automatically adjust the time.

Skip Search: The skip search function fast forwards the tape in 30 seconds increments each time you press the button (can be pressed up to 4 times for a total of 2 minutes).

Two VCR Control: The remote can be set to control two JVC VCRs (A or B).

Remote Control

LP20303-015 Remote: The remote is pre-programmed to operate this unit and a number of functions on other A/V components. The Shuttle Plus control gives you the flexibility of a traditional jog/shuttle control, plus more, in one easy-to-use button on the remote control. You have fingertip control of frame advance, variable slow motion, multiple-speed search and Index Search.

Shuttle Plus: The remote has a Shuttle Plus button for fingertip control of frame advance, variable slow motion, multiple speed search, index search and on-screen menu operation.
